Habitat by Beat

Just under 150 loops comprise ModeAudio‘s 544 MB ambient collection, Habitat, which is composed of ambiences (30), basses (30), percussion (19), synth atmos (20), synths and pianos (30), and textures (20). For transition effects, there are ten individual samples. Additionally, 50 MIDI loops are included. The synth atmos are a bit weird and experimental, are partly played backwards, and still sound soothing. The basses are rumbling and, unfortunately, too diffuse to use rhythmically in songs, but well usable as a low-frequency texture. The gently rising sound effects and textures were carved from field recordings, water and wind sound effects. The percussion are pleasantly driving rhythms with a lot of echoes around them.

Verdict

Natural and authentic samples are the basis of Habitat, which have been richly garnished with effects and filters. The samples are good for Ambient Music and for the background music in games.
