Lightspeed by DJ Mag

'Lightspeed - Ambient Techno Loops' is the latest sample pack from the sound design team at ModeAudio. The Daniel Avery inspired library immerses producers in a world of hazy, ethereal techno loops, designed to elevate your productions to new sonic heights.

Airspace by MusicTech Mag

ModeAudio’s first plugin is a sound designer’s dream, with a mix of convolution reverb, delay, and a varied collection of impulse responses

Airspace by 36

Airspace is wonderful. You can stick it on anything, and it instantly makes things sound more interesting. Just scrolling through the presets quickly inspires new directions for where to take the music, with loads of customisation under the hood. It's as simple or as complex as you need it to be, and it's perfect for instantly lushing up my tunes. I'll be using it a lot.

Airspace by Attack Mag

In the end, Airspace is far more than the sum of its already-pretty-cool parts. Each section is a nice effect on its own (and can be used that way too), but taken together they’re awesome.

Airspace by BPB

I know ModeAudio as the team behind some of the most meticulously crafted sample/loop packs I've ever heard, as well as stellar synth presets for the likes of Serum and Vital.

Airspace by Rekkerd

Summary

An excellent plugin that falls just shy of some features that would make it a ‘best-in-class’ candidate for convolution plugins. “Airspace” is a worthy addition to any library, truly excelling with atmospheric sound design whilst unifying convolution and delay in a seamless workflow.

Airspace by Ableton

Airspace is a beautifully designed plugin which allows me to dial in the right amount of character-filled space. It’s already found a secure home in my sound design work.

Airspace by Computer Music

An incredibly dexterous ambience-generating tool that will have you concocting dense sonics in seconds. Airspace is my new go-to for getting instant, characterful delays.

Airspace by DJ Mag

ModeAudio's new Airspace plugin is a treat for producers and sound designers alike. The team, already known for their fantastic boutique sample libraries, have come up trumps with their first ever VST plugin.

When it comes to sample packs and synth presets, there’s a lot on offer these days. I reckon it must be quite hard for sound designers to get noticed, but whenever I see another ModeAudio sound pack I know it’s going to be something interesting.

Futurism by Beat

The Futurism sample pack from ModeAudio feels like a journey back in time to the 80s.The sonic focus of the 149 music loops is clearly on Synthwave. The retro vibe, in the style of Miami Vice, is noticeable throughout, but the sounds are high quality and not 8-bit Style. There are 18 arpeggios and pads, 23 basses, 16 drums, 15 sound effects and 41 synthesizers included, as well as 59 individual samples featuring Drums from vintage machines with rich filter processing. Included are 101 MIDI sequences. The synth melodies are very pleasant, but could be catchier. Long reverb effects are typical of the sound of the time. This is particularly noticeable in the Drums, which could have been a little punchier.

100 Drones by MusicTech Mag

ModeAudio continues its legacy of beautiful ambient sample pack releases with 100 Drones, a majestic collection of ethereal textures that’s perfect for soundtrack work or atmospheric productions.

Planetarium by Beat

ModeAudio‘s Planetarium sample package, which is over 1GB in size, delivers a sonic excursion into cosmic heights. About half of the 150 sounds are divided into Loops and Samples. Among the loops are ambiences (39), basses (13), synth progressions (17) and textures (6). The rest are single samples, 36 of which are sound effects that sound like they come from distant galaxies. The ambiences have a very soothing, soulful, but also somewhat mystical character. The bass drones coming from the depths have a slightly threatening effect. Enchanting diffuse melodies were wrapped as progressions that let you dive into dream worlds. The textures are also good for scoring videogames, animations or TV movies.

Crate Love by MusicTech Mag

There’s nothing quite like the swung groove of a classic hip-hop beat to get the head bopping. ModeAudio’s Crate Love manages to perfectly capture the vintage hardware-driven sound of 90s-era hip-hop, with plenty of crunch and vinyl crackle added for good measure.

Habitat by Beat

Just under 150 loops comprise ModeAudio‘s 544 MB ambient collection, Habitat, which is composed of ambiences (30), basses (30), percussion (19), synth atmos (20), synths and pianos (30), and textures (20). For transition effects, there are ten individual samples. Additionally, 50 MIDI loops are included. The synth atmos are a bit weird and experimental, are partly played backwards, and still sound soothing. The basses are rumbling and, unfortunately, too diffuse to use rhythmically in songs, but well usable as a low-frequency texture. The gently rising sound effects and textures were carved from field recordings, water and wind sound effects. The percussion are pleasantly driving rhythms with a lot of echoes around them.

This delicate and serene pack is inspired by neoclassical minimalists such as Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnalds and contains delicate, ambient piano loops and accompanying sounds. There are 55 acoustic piano loops that form the foundation of the pack, and are supported by a further 112 loops of instrumental textures, tuned percussion, glacial pads, found percussion loops and more. Fresh Air by Beat

A soothing mix of Ambient sound collages and nature sounds are presented by ModeAudio‘s Fresh Air sounds. The 828 MB are composed of loops with basses (11), drums & percussion (16), synthesizers (48), instruments (38) and 18 noise textures. The 96 MIDI clips are helpful for producing your own soundscapes. Lovely bells and soothing mallet and piano sounds line the instruments. The field recordings featuring animal sounds and weather scenarios are also very nice. Pleasant piano riffs and synthesizer sounds frame the drones. The percussive elements are unusual, but impressive and well suited for cinematic purposes. Much more monotonous are the noise textures, which range from filtered wind effects to tape noise.

Keeping with the theme of cinematic sound, ModeAudio’s latest release is a deep, chilling and evocative exploration of ambient textures that draws its inspiration from Nordic Mythology. Momentum by Beat

Experimental sound design with synthetic textures and drones, as well as organic field recording characterises ModeAudio's 1.28 GB collection, Momentum. In this collection, you can hear 16 bass drones, 47 synth drones and 37 field recording and Noise textures. The duration of the 100 samples ranges from 30 seconds to over a minute. Evil and threatening, the (partly distorted) bass drones rumble through the atmosphere. The cinematic power of synthesizers is evident in the synth drones. Their facets range from exciting to relaxing, with no shortage of effects and filter gimmicks. The nature recordings of water, storms, rain and dust textures, among others, are first class. The samples can only be used for music to a limited extent (for example, for Ambient music).

ModeAudio presents a deep and haunting collection of evolving guitar textures this month. Gradient only has 100 samples, but it weighs in at a sizeable 1.38 GB, as the sample lengths ranges from 28 to 90 seconds.

Cosmic Dust by Bedroom Producers Blog

Cosmic Dust (£18) is ModeAudio’s recently released collection of royalty-free loops and one-shots that highlights the more eccentric side of Hip-Hop. We’re taking a closer look at the sound collection and giving away two FREE copies to two lucky BPB readers.

Surge by Beat

Movie score composers watch out! ModeAudio has put together an attractive bundle of cinematic ambient samples with Surge, which comes in at over 1.6 GB. In terms of content, there are 40 Atmospheric Sounds, 30 Drones, 34 Sound Effects and 44 Textures for your ears. The duration of the sounds ranges from one second to almost 1.5 minutes. The textures are creepy, rather gloomy and monotonous, sometimes distorted and only rarely turbulent. However, these form a good basis to build atmospheres or sound effects on, and craft the perfect soundscape. For the atmospheres, a lot of reverb was used to simulate large spaces and dimensions. You can also sink into the depths of the oceans or distant galaxies. The surreal sound effects fit very well.

Surge by Computer Music

Moody atmospherics to make your blood curdle and backbone shudder in this spooky 1.65GB sample set. Swelling tones, flecked with weather-worn wind and rain noises ebb and flow as dense, soupy sound clouds pour like a deluge out of your speakers. Drones, pads, FX, tones abound. With sweeping sounds running from a few seconds to well over a minute (and getting lost in the wilder ones is half the fun). Perfect for adding a dramatic dimension of widescreen cinematics to your productions.

Crush by Computer Music

Cavernous kicks and seismic snares in this colossal collection of lo-fi drum hits and kits. Each thudding sound in this 376-strong set has that old skool bit rate crunch and MPC-style punch. And they all come processed to their limits, for maximum potency.

Dispersion by MusicTech

ModeAudio’s latest release includes a wealth of expansive and beautiful ambiences and drones, from shimmering string harmonies, and morphing textures, to propulsive basses. Also included are delicate kick, drum and noise patterns for adding some rhythmic detail. There are 178 loops in total, which are divided into 16 sets, plus 72 drum samples, and 16 drum MIDI loops. It’s a hazy and atmospheric collection that could be used to add texture to any ambient, chillout or cinematic piece.

Distorted Texture Loops by Computer Music

Strategically stepped-on samples and musical bedding, made out of some dynamically warped instruments and sound sources. Fuzzed-out bass and pedal-fed electric guitar sounds, harmonically mutated voice swells, or stressed synth and string sounds — there’s plenty here to capture your imagination. Each swishing, hissing, swirling soundscape has been deviously deformed and disfigured into riotously tense and textured sonic shapes and shades.

Amplify by Soundbytes

A 60+ MB library of one-shots for producers of industrial, techno, noise, hip hop, rock and etc, Amplify is a stage-ready collection of 381 overdriven and saturated samples. ModeAudio’s goal is to take several drum machines (Roland TR505, Roland TR808, Roland TR909, Alesis HR16 and Korg Volca Beats) and run them through distortion pedals and delay effects.

All loops are 8 bars at 120bpm and include 120 string textures, 50 bass string textures, and 25 noise textures. ModeAudio used a custom ambient processing setup to create delicately evolving loops with the timbre of epic cinematic strings, but with a more drawn out and ambient flavour. The total pack weighs in at 791 MB in WAV or Reason ReFill formats, with the Reason version adding 25 Grain Sample Manipulator patches.

Alteration by Soundbytes

Here’s another piano-generated sample library from ModeAudio, and it’s amazing. Alteration is a prepared piano library consisting of 320 samples. It is not your regular piano pack, but what you get instead are little snippet piano sounds. Think of it as a collection of effects.

Colour Field by Sounbytes

ModeAudio has not slowed down. Instead they're putting even more pressure on the gas pedal to give us their latest soaring sound pack release called Colour Field – Piano Texture Samples. This exquisite 660 MB collection of floaty texture sounds includes 48 piano triad, 24 7th loops, 24 9th loops, 24 piano 11th loops and 24 piano 7th (add13) loops. There are also 13 piano bass notes thrown in for good measure. All in all, it comes with a total of 157 texture loops.

Synthetica by Beat

Influenced by the sounds of former hardware synthesizers and drum machines from the 80s, ModeAudio has published the 579 MB sound archive, Synthetica, with loops and single samples. Among the loops are Arpeggios (20), Basses (17), SFX and Textures (21), Synthesizers (47), Cymbals and Percussions (39). There are also 45 drum samples and four sound effects. The speed ranges from 80 to 140 BPM. In addition, you can access 81 MIDI files. The sound experience of the atmospheres varies from restless to soothing, which are often based on noise sweeps and like to wander back and forth in the stereo field. The synth loops are knitted from inspirational melodies and chords. The drum loops, which have been partially filtered or oversaturated, move far away from the usual 4/4 beat.

Synthetica by Soundbytes

Here’s another synthwave pack from ModeAudio in this month’s issue. When it comes to the synthwave genre, there’s a wave of interests everywhere. And that’s when Synthetica comes in to offer producers a dose of cinematically-charged samples. Synthetica: Synthwave Soundtrack Loops is a 579 MB library full of 80s-inspired retro sounds, especially synths.

Astral Phase by Soundbytes

Astral Phase is a collection of samples inspired by 80s-style synth tracks. This sample pack is dripping with nostalgia. You know sounds that we’ve fallen in love with – big pads, neon arpeggios and driving bass lines – not to mention those killer synths with lots of delay. Well, Astral Phase has lots of that here; 176 music loops, 71 drum samples, 106 MIDI loops and 65 synth tail samples. If that does not get you going with your synthwave, retrowave and synth pop journeys, what will?

Flood by Beat

ModeAudio‘s 1.8 GB sound archive, Flood, specializes in ambient drones and textures. The range of sample duration from one second to almost three minutes is very large. The 189 samples are composed of Textures (41), Drones (37), Atmosheres (18), Basses / Subbasses (49) and Short Sound Effects (44). The atmospheric sounds and textures are particularly appealing, among which there are common monotonous machine-like drones, as well as backward granulated synthetic water splashing to violent storms. As for sound effects, there are short splashes, mystical cracking in stalactite caves, filtered shadowy figures, electroscans and other whimsical sounds.

Post Rock Guitar Loops by MusicTech

This bitesize pack from ModeAudio helps showcase the versatility of the guitar, with a blend of majestic twinkles and softly strummed chords, alongside more distorted leads and driving sequences. The bulk of the pack contains 46 electric guitar loops in dry and wet versions, many of which have been composed to layer well together, plus 12 bass guitar loops, and 8 drum loops. Tempos range from 75 to 120bpm and it’s available in your choice of 112 Acid Wav loops or 112 REX2 loops.

Friction by Beat

To dive into the haze of cinematic soundscapes, ModeAudio offers Friction, a powerful 2 GB sample package that can be used preferably for moves, games and tv soundtracks. There are Atmospheres (55), Basses (43), Sound Effects (33), Textures (35) and Rhythmic Samples (35) to discover. The length of the samples vari- es from four seconds to almost 3 minutes. The spectrum of atmospheres, from delicate to harsh, is versatile. The percussive-rhythmic elements, are crunchy, rough, and sometimes distorted. Metallic, edgy, discordant and gloomy sound effects flourish. The bass would be well suited in the film for the background of underwater scenes, thunderous nights or terrifying environments.

Dream Days by MusicTech

Loose Breaks by MusicTech

Sometimes it pays to ditch the quantise and just go with the flow. This pack from ModeAudio embraces the looser vibe of live drum performance, with more than 100 beats in both hip-hop and broken house and techno styles. Each beat is packed with detail and character, and is presented with a kick and top loop file. However, given the complex layered nature of the patterns, it would perhaps be more useful and flexible to have at least three layers per beat.

Symmetry by Soundbytes

The 5:23m demo tune of Symmetry on ModeAudio’s website is so simple, yet it works. Symmetry features many loops for the creation of ambient, downtempo, minimal and techno music. It features soothing and enveloping synths, pad layers, complex atmospheres, punchy drum and bass loops and more.

Flood by Andrulian

ModeAudio has introduced Flood, a 1.88Gb collection of an immense, hallucinogenic blend of pulverising bass, shimmering SFX, crackling sonic atmosphere and lilting analog synth haze. A great option if you’re looking for a one-and-done solution. It not only contains dry, close-miked drum loops for maximum clarity but also offers those same loops with room sound so you can incorporate some space into your mix. Better still, there are both pre-processed and pure-acoustic options to suit your needs and either save you time when mixing or provide your rhythm with a clean foundation.

Foundation is a collection of royalty-free drum sounds sampled from selected vintage drum machines and analog synthesizers. Firstly, the sound designers at ModeAudio sampled a pair of studio classics – the LinnDrum and the Alesis HR-16 drum machines are legendary instruments that defined the sound of the late 80s music. These vintage classics are joined by the more modern Akai MPC2000 drum sequencer and Behringer’s new DeepMind analog synthesizer to create a collection of retro-inspired drum samples.

Disintegrate by Electronic Musician

You've probably noticed that there are many sample packs and sound libraries out there. That means great things for producers who want to score a quick dose of sonic inspiration at a reasonable price, or who want to take advantage of the ease of digital distribution to put out their own collection of sounds. On the other hand, the glut of product unavoidably leads to a certain amount of homogenization among packs purporting to be a sort of plug-and-play kit for genres like dubstep, trap, future house, trance, and so forth.

Problem is, there's nary a gap in the analog drum sample market—territory well-trodden by nearly every other sample house to date. So how does Resonate stack up against the competition?

Soft Focus by FLStudioMusic

Today I will take a look at Soft Focus, one of the recent sample packs released by the talented guys at ModeAudio.

String Theory by Bedroom Producers Blog

It's more than just “a sound”, rather, it's a feeling you get. Hiss and crackle reflect off the walls and fill you with a sense of security. Deep bass drums expand and contract the air around your head. Arpeggiated guitar chords echoing in the distance and dancing in circles across your mind. Funky key stabs invoke visions of Stevie, Lonnie, and Ray.

Resonate by ProducerSpot

Samples - we can't seem to get enough of them; we always want more and are always on the hunt for them either for free ones or if we hear something so pleasing we would even be willing to fork out some life credits for them. Now, this pack is in my opinion definitely one of the ones to say here take my money. As we all know drums are one of the most important things in our productions if not the most important for some genres.

Ignition by FLStudioMusic

ModeAudio has announced the release of Ignition, a new collection of FX drum samples and percussions.

Also, there are 81 MIDI files. I'll be reviewing the String Theory pack for Ableton Live, which also includes 12 Live project templates and four Drum Racks.

Trap Kingdom by Bedroom Producers Blog

Any good genre of dance music quickly goes from fresh and exciting to regurgitated drivel. This transformation is accelerating every day, usually through the rapacity of soundware companies flooding the market with copycat forgeries, simulacrums of an authentic aesthetic.

Lost Archive by FLStudioMusic

Lost Archive by ModeAudio is a sample library exploring the deep and melancholic spectrum of trip hop music.

Raw Material by AskAudio

All babies love banging on pots and pans. But, it's musician babies that really love playing on pots and pans, and as you probably know, infancy is not a requirement. As an adult, I'm still doing it, as well as ModeAudio. Recently, they released Raw Material, a really sweet sample pack containing over three hundred found percussion samples ranging from tea kettles, utensils, snapping wood, and more - a veritable treasure trove of foley material and industrial treasure. But, does the pack stand up? Let's find out!

Lost Archive by Bedroom Producers Blog

ModeAudio has a talent for avoiding the slavish mainstream soundware paradigm. If you are looking for out-of-the-box Beatport Top 100 sounds, then I encourage you to check out ModeAudio, not because they provide these shrink-wrapped sounds, on the contrary, because they provide unique sounds that encourage you to shape and manipulate them. Such is the case with their latest offering Lost Archive.

Raw Material by Medway Studios

If you're looking for some unique samples to layer up with your existing library to breathe new life into it then ModeAudio's Raw Material should fit the bill perfectly.

Reflect by Bedroom Producers Blog

As a sound designer, I've made a habit of only using my own creations, but in the last few years, I've become more and more convinced that this is a bad habit. Only using your own sounds can bring on a creative drought, where you'll find yourself growing more and more out of touch with your audience and your peers, struggling to produce anything that truly inspires you. That's because it's not your job to inspire you. By consuming third party content, you'll open yourself up to new ideas and possibilities that fuel the creative process.

Sway is a lush, rhythm-oriented hip hop sample pack. The grooves and timing of the elements of this pack meander and swing in a way that is both laid-back and exciting at the same time.

Float by MusicTech Mag

Float is a new pack from ModeAudio that contains 10 construction kits of downtempo chillwave tracks divided into folders of bass, drums, synths and instruments, and both affected and dry guitars. The pack is available in your choice of Acid WAV, Apple Loops and REX2, with several additional patches and projects if you opt for the Reason or Ableton Live versions. As a nice bonus, you also get the bass, drum and synth loops in MIDI format so you can try out your own sounds. The bass and drum loops aren't anything to write home about, and the synth loops are decent enough. However, the real star here is the stunning array of guitar loops, with each kit featuring several riffs that can be layered on top of each other. The dreamy affected versions sound excellent, and there are also separate folders for the tails to aid with flexibility.

Each drum loop comes with up to three beat variations and a fill loop, so they're pretty much ready for use as the rhythmic backbone of your new tune. Having all these different versions of a single drum loop is a very nice touch, since many loop libraries out there only contain short 4-bar drum loops without any variations or fills.

Klang by Bedroom Producers Blog

One of the most important things when programming drum loops inside a DAW is making the drum loop sound “alive”. There are many ways to achieve this effect, but one of the easiest methods is to use real life sounds in tandem with electronic drum hits.

Spectral Surface by Ohm Lab

ModeAudio does incredible sound design work and I was pretty pleased to hear that they wanted their products reviewed by OhmLab. Today we take a look at Spectral Surface for NI Massive, a collection of 50 texture-rich patches, and tell you what we think!

For the most part, these are atmospheric sound effects that are ideal for expanding the space in your mixes and working on transitions between parts of your tracks, but they're versatile enough to be used in many different ways. For the most part these are very robotic, industrial, and futuristic sounds that would sound great in most styles of electronic music.

Broke Beats by MaschineMasters

Whats good MM fam! Today I had the opportunity to review ModeAudio's Broke Beats - Hip Hop Drum Loops. Combined with the vintage patterns and modern samples, Broke Beats grants us producers with a generous amount of quirky and fun loops to work with. Well organized with tempo and proper labeling, it is effortless to spring into many productions.

Critical Mass by AskAudio

Critical Mass is an extremely competitively priced drum bank featuring a large supply of kicks, snares, hi-hats and cymbals. The Macros in Critical Mass are intelligently thought out and really go far in giving you not just a bunch of sounds, but an intelligent ‘drum-builder' style set that you could use for a long time. Hi-hats, like Hat Zinc let you customize the Click Color (the simulated tap of the drum stick, as it hits the cymbal), the Length of the hi-hat, Reverb mix, and several other intelligent adjustments that you would hope for.

Analogue Experiments by Medway Studios

The sample pack industry only seems to be growing, and while this offers the consumer more choices, it poses the problem of having to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Woodland by EDMProd

Quite similar to the Fields pack, but containing a lot more rain and wind. I actually really like this pack despite how depressing rain and wind sound, and I know for a fact I'll be using it in some of my tracks.

Urban Middle East by EDMProd

I was really excited for this one, as it's just different. Waves and birds chirping are the obvious choices for field recordings, but Urban Middle East? What a great idea!

Fields by EDMProd

I have to say, Fields is probably my personal favorite out of the four field recording packs. Really high quality sounds that provide a tonne of inspiration. Here's what I think of the 6 recordings:

Coasts by EDMProd

I'm a big fan of beaches. I'm lucky enough to live in NZ where the beach is 5 minutes drive away. What I love more than beahces, though, is the sound of beaches in music. Whether it's waves, wind, you name it.
