Exposure, from ModeAudio, is a fantastic collection of MIDI files and synth presets for Native Instruments Massive in the Deep House genre.

I've really come to like what the ModeAudio crew does and how much attention to detail they pour into each of their releases. Cracking open the Exposure collection for NI Massive was a nice refreshing return to reviews after being busy getting SoundFreqs launched for the last couple months. Being greeted by sounds so full of character and warmth inspired me to create a demo track with very little effort and that should be a testament to the sounds' greatness in and of itself. Inspiration can be an incredibly fleeting and elusive thing, so when a set of sounds triggers creativity instantly, you have to embrace it and see where it goes.

The sounds in the Exposure pack are performance ready and obviously designed with producing music quickly and easily in mind. It's very easy to program unnecessary complexity into synth presets. You just get caught up in how great the sound is and you want it to be capable of more-and-more! But when it comes to making a specific type of music with synth presets, I generally find it better to set some boundaries and help the user create their music without having to worry about finding those boundaries themselves. In other words, I appreciate the performance-minded programming of the eight macro controls in every patch.

Exposure is brimming with that life and energy that bubbles just under the surface of Deep House music until it bursts through with a magnificent and impressive nature that cannot be denied. The team at ModeAudio captured it all perfectly. The short demo track below features about a dozen presets from the Exposure set and no processing or mixing of any kind has been applied exceptsome volume ducking, being automated through compression. The only sounds in the track that are not part of the pack are the drums. So what you hear is precisely what you can expect from these sounds when you start using them yourself! All effects and modulations changes are being managed through the pre-programmed macro controls. They make this all very easy!
