Friction by Computer Music
*The following is an extract of the full mini-review that appeared in print issue 295 of Computer Music.
Through wailing winds and icy ambient synths, this evocative collection of elemental soundscapes expertly transports the listener to barren lands and remote tundras. As you beat a path through the moody sample work, you’ll encounter bass rumbles, meditative flourishes and unnerving textures, as strange percussive rhythms and electronic and industrial noises, fit for a vintage John Carpenter score, flitter past. Watch your footing – some loops nearly hit the three-minute mark as they build and swell. It’s quite the journey.
