Smoke Signal by Soundbytes
Last but not the least in this month’s SoundBytes Magazine issue is Smoke Signal: Live Trip Hop Drums. ModeAudio delivers an array of smoky, hazy loops and drum hits made from live drum recordings. Smoke Signal: Live Trip Hop Drums is a stunning 492 MB sample library created using a Yamaha studio-grade kit, shakers, tambourine, clave and drums sticks by the talented folks at ModeAudio.
The recording goal here is to capture the vibe and spirit of classic 90s trip hop sounds of Portishead, Massive Attack and etc. Inside this title you’ll find 170 punchy loops of jazzy main grooves, thundering drum fills, slick percussions and a nice bonus of lo-fi beats. There are also 46 one-drum hits that you can use to create your own drum rack within your DAW’s drum instrument. What I like about this library is how the raw samples were processed. They were sprinkled with compression, tape saturation and spring reverb.
The result is a set of highly useable samples that can be dropped into your DAW’s song arrangement pane as a foundation for your latest compositions or projects. If you’re looking for a well-crafted pack for your trip hop adventures, then consider this to be added in your next shopping list.
